::It was a pitch black kitchen. There was only the sound of water trickling and an older woman cleaning dishes. The moon shone in the window above the sink, and illuminated the right side of her face. This revealed her big brown doe-eyes, a slight age-line spanning the edge of her mouth, and long red hair, peppered with white. She was humming a soft tune to herself, washing the dishes in the dead of night. She ran a towel along the edge of a plate, revealing her own glistening reflection and a pair of red eyes behind her. She blinked and looked once more. The eyes were still there, and a smile accompanied them. She noticed the smell of smoke and tobacco begin to fill the air around here, and a bowl of smoldering ash in front of her son's reflection. A small tear trickled down her cheek as she put the plate down in the sink and stared down at her reflection in the water. Her voice shook a bit, but remained strong::
"So, how was your mission, Irori?"
::There was a chuckle from behind her, followed by Irori's smooth voice::
"It went well, if I do say so myself, mother. You couldn't have possibly thought I was dead?"
::She responded immediately, giving neither of them time to take a breath::
"Of course I knew you weren't dead."
::She snapped::
"I could still feel the chakra from your seal. I knew you were alive."
::Irori stepped towards her back as she continued to stare down into the soapy water::
"So Hara knows too, then?"
"No. I wasn't able to bring myself to tell that poor girl that her beloved brother abandoned her and the Village due to a promise he made because of her. She would've went after you. You know that. As far as she knows, you died in a valiant battle with the psychopathic rogue, Hyoga Hyoshi. There are tons of hunter-nin after his corpse now. She wants to train to avenge you."
"Any hunter-nin on the trail of Hyoshi Hyoga will find more than they bargained for."
"You didn't kill him?"
"That boy is definitely still a menace, but he is imprisoned."
::The tear dropped from Maguma's chin into the sink below making a splash that seemed to ring out in the entire kitchen. She spoke::
"I see you've got the eyes of the Yoton now. How is your tattoo coming?"
"Three."
::Maguma's eyes widened and tears began to flow. She finally turned to Irori::
"What do you mean? Do you even know how long you have left?"
"11 months, right?"
"Don't act so nonchalant, Irori! You'll die in less than a year if you don't get 9 more!"
"I know this, mother."
::Irori said through his teeth. He continued::
"I need Kazen, mother."
::The room was now silent except for the running faucet. There was a hesitation before Irori spoke again, with desperation::
"Mother, please tell me you know where father hid it!"
::There was silence once more, then Maguma spoke hurriedly::
"He left it with the Phoenixes. It's in the mountainside... somewhere. I don't know the details... but I'm sure if you get in there and find Houou, he'd know..."
::There was silence as Irori turned to walk away::
"Thank you, mother. That was all I needed."
"So that's it then!?"
::His mother responded angrily::
"I'll see you in a year... count on it..."
